Kalkan has an air of tranquillity that other places have lost, narrow shaded streets lined with cafes and small shops lead you down to the harbour where you can sit in the shade and watch the boats coming and going. You can arrange day cruises or snorkelling and scuba trips at the harbourside shops.

Kalkan and the surrounding villages have many historical sites on the doorstep:

Pinara and Sidyma; with their amphitheatres and tombs;
Kekova; the sunken city best reached using a local boat;
The famous beach at Patara, where sea turtles now lay their eggs in a protected area, is a 20 minute drive away from Kalkan.

Local beach clubs offer a variety of facilities including:

water skiing;
jet skiing;
snorkelling and scuba diving.

For the more adventurous:
try canoeing down the Xanthos river, followed by a relaxing mud bath;
or,
if you're looking for more excitement, try tandem paragliding - a really exciting way to spend a day.
These and other trips trips can be arranged through many of the local tour specialists in Kalkan.

At night Kalkan offers excellent and varied cuisine from the many roof top restaurants. For the young at heart there is a choice of bars for you to relax in, or if you feel energetic enough, dance the night away under the stars.
